💙 National School Counseling Week 💙
This past week, we celebrated National School Counseling Week, and our high school counselors made it extra special with fun and meaningful activities for students each day! From Kindness Bingo and Music Trivia to tips for managing stress and wellness, they found creative ways to support and connect with our students. We are so thankful for our counselors and all they do to encourage, guide, and care for our students every day! ✨

This week, we’re proud to recognize Mrs. Davis and the incredible impact she has at Skiatook High School! With over 20 years of experience, Mrs. Davis brings a strong background as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She transitioned seamlessly into the school counseling world and has also taken on the role of Alternative Education Coordinator, supporting students in so many meaningful ways. We are truly blessed to have her guiding, advocating, and caring for our students every day. Thank you, Mrs. Davis, for all that you do! 👏

Today we’re celebrating Ms. Haas, whose care, connection, and compassion make a difference every day.
When asked what she’s learned as a school counselor, Ms. Haas shared a moment that has stayed with her throughout her career: *“One thing I’ve learned as a school counselor is how much it matters to students when you know their name. With so many students over the years, my brain doesn’t always keep up, but I try my best! During one of my first years as a school counselor, a 7th grade boy was shocked when I said hi to him and knew his name. I later found out he told his mom that night, ‘Mom, the school counselor knew my name today and said hi to me!’ That moment has always stayed with me and reminds me how important it is for students to know they are seen—and that they matter.”*
Thank you, Ms. Haas, for reminding us that even the smallest gestures leave a lasting impact. Your dedication helps our students feel valued, supported, and truly seen.

Today we’re celebrating Mrs. Van Hoozer, who is in her first year as a school counselor here in Skiatook and her 13th year as a school counselor! Mrs. Van Hoozer has brought so much positive energy to our school—so much, in fact, that many students know her as DJ Van Hoozy! She introduced Music Fridays during lunch, creating a fun, uplifting atmosphere that students look forward to each week. Her creativity, compassion, and commitment to our students make a huge difference every day. Thank you, Mrs. Van Hoozer, for all you do and for bringing both heart and good vibes to Skiatook! ❤️🎶🐾

He has been nominated and voted the 2025–26 Band Director of the Year by dozens of his colleagues in the Green Country Band Directors Association! We are incredibly proud of his dedication, leadership, and the impact he continues to make on the Skiatook Band program. This past weekend, Mr. Stotz, Mr. Kitchen, and several Skiatook Band students attended the All-District Honor Band Clinic and Concert in Claremore. Earlier this year, these students auditioned, rose above tough competition on their instruments, and earned their place in the honor band. The guest clinicians for all three ensembles—7th Grade, Junior High, and High School—were outstanding, and the final concert was a fantastic experience for both students and audience members.🎶 Congratulations to our All-District Honor Band members and to our GCBDA Band Director of the Year, Mr. Stotz! 🎶

What an incredible day yesterday! A huge congratulations to our students and advisors on a successful show. Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork truly shined in the ring. 🐖🏅

Senior debate student Jacob McKee competed in the Snowpocalypse Virtual Tournament hosted by Edmond Santa Fe on January 20. Jacob earned 1st place in the 5A division for Lincoln-Douglas Value Debate and has officially qualified for the regional-level contest. Way to represent and best of luck at regionals, Jacob! 👏

Our high school is celebrating our AMAZING school counselors with a week of fun dress-up days! Students and staff are encouraged to participate all week as we show our appreciation for the counselors who support, guide, and cheer us on every day.

Bulldogs Families,
Skiatook Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to extreme cold and hazardous travel conditions. Both days will be traditional snow days.
The district will continue to evaluate conditions through Tuesday evening to make a decision on school for Wednesday, January 28. Should an additional closure be necessary on Wednesday, the district will move to Distance Learning.
Bulldog Families,
Based on the most current forecast, we will be IN SCHOOL and IN PERSON tomorrow. Current projections indicate that weather impacts will hold off until early evening, we are confident we can hold school and get everyone home safely. Out of an abundance of caution, all after-school activities, Friday evening events, and all Saturday events are cancelled.
Now is the time to submit baby pictures for the Senior Slide Show! Instructions have been sent to your student through Google Classroom. If there are any questions, students may reach out to Coach Long for assistance.
