Oklahoma Parents As Teachers
Being a parent is hard work! Let O.P.A.T. help!
Oklahoma Parents as Teachers provides parent education and family support to families throughout pregnancy until their children reach the age of 3.
Parents are supported by Parents as Teachers ~ certified parent educators trained to translate scientific information on early brain development into specific when, what, how, and why advice for families.
By understanding what to expect during each stage of development, parents can easily capture the teachable moments in everyday life to enhance their child’s language development, intellectual growth, social development and motor skills.
In Skiatook, the tradition of quality O.P.A.T. programs has spanned over 14 years. Before O.P.A.T. Skiatook had a grant for project STEER. The district currently serves over 40 families each month with home visits, play groups, group meetings, and developmental testing, and sign language incorporation. There is no prequalification for the program other than having a child (or expecting a child) under the age of 3. To enroll in the program or for more information, contact Rebekah Perigo at 396-5730 extension 208.
