Ms. Michelle Baker
National Board Certification is in AYA Mathematics (Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics)
Certified in 2007
“By going through the certification process, you learn a lot about yourself as a teacher and a learner. The certification requires you to reflect upon your teaching by looking at your strengths and weaknesses. By gathering videos of myself teaching, work samples from my students, and documenting accomplishments, I was able to put together a portfolio to send to National Board. After gathering everything needed, I wrote reflections by answering questions that National Board was asking of me. There are five key propositions by which all National Board teachers teach. By thinking about those five things, you can start to see where your strengths and weaknesses are. I feel like after going through this process, I am a better teacher than I was before.” –Michelle Baker
